Steps for a Research Project:

1. Develop a research question.

• Choose a topic (must align with the prompt)
• Narrow the topic: What do you want to focus on?
• Form that into a specific, poignant question.  The rest of your research will be to answer that question.

2. Gather information.

• Use the MVCS Research Guide for researching online.
• Use Google Search Tips n' Tricks.
• Track Sources using Note Cards
• Cite sources immediately, in MLA format
• Use credible sources.

3. Answer your research question.

• Look through your notecards, and answer your research question with the information you found.
• Write a thesis statement (the answer to your research question)
• Pre-write and Outline your research essay
• Write your Research Essay
• Format and cite in MLA Format:
