What is it?
An outline is a structure that includes your thesis and the main ideas for your five paragraphs. Note that each Roman numeral is for one paragraph.
Why is it useful before writing?
An outline arranges all of your notes into a logical format. It allows you to arrange your ideas in a cohesive order so that your paper will be well-structured and easy to write (and later to read).
